[EN] In a striking reimagining of Velma Wallis’ novel, this Gwich'in story is set in 1400's Alaska follows two elderly women, Sa' and Ch'idzigyaak, abandoned by their band in a desperate bid for survival as a brutal winter looms. With only the barest of tools and a fragment of family love to guide them, they must draw on their traditional knowledge and summon unwavering determination to survive. As they struggle to adapt, the spirit of the land and animals come to their aid and strange occurrences begin to unfold around them, blurring the lines between the natural and the supernatural. With every step, the women must navigate the harsh realities of survival while grappling with the deepening mystery of their journey—unsure if they will ever see their tribe again, or even if they want to.
