SYNOPSIS

[EN] In a small Indian village, Sujata, a young girl from the Banjara tribe, stands at that fleeting age when anything feels possible. Inspired by the movies she loves, she dreams of becoming a kabaddi player—an aggressive, full-contact sport. But as her school years come to an end, she is pushed toward the same fate as generations of women before her: a forced marriage. An upcoming district-level tournament becomes her last chance to change her future. On match day, Sujata slips between reality and a Bollywood-tinted dream, momentarily becoming the hero she always imagined. 'Bali' is a bittersweet portrait of growing up in rural India. In a culture where grief and pain often go unspoken, the film captures how young girls like Sujata navigate hardship with humour, escapism, and quiet resilience.
