[EN] ‘Hornero’ is a short which draws on a Brazilian legend to craft, within the realm of magical realism, a narrative that explores the issue of violence against women in the heart of Brazilian remote savanna. This terrifying legend, widely known in deep Brazil, tells of the 'João-de-Barro' (Rufous Hornero), a common bird in the Brazilian savanna, which imprisons its 'unsuitable' mate inside the nest by sealing the entrance to its little clay house. In the film, the legend is subverted when nature intervenes against the oppressive man, preventing yet another tragedy.
