[EN] Through the examination of man and woman interactions in Hollywood films from the 1930s to the 1960s, The Hand That Touches the Arm investigates how classical Hollywood cinema helped to reinforce gender roles. By denaturalizing gestures that often go unnoticed, the film reveals a disturbing omnipresence of the touch, which may assume multiple senses, such as tenderness, possession or violence.
