SYNOPSIS

[EN] For many Brazilians, saudade is a deep state of longing for the past. For Afro-Brazilians, an overused word adopts a new meaning—of grasping at a past that never was. Saudade follows 3 Baianos as they grapple with the collective memory of saudade in Afro-Brazilian culture, tracing this haunting undercurrent from the shores of Africa to Salvador, Bahia, Brazil's blackest state.
