SYNOPSIS

[EN] WOMEN OF SUMBA LAND tells the story of women in Sumba. On this island old traditions are still being upheld strongly, and women are being objectified by it. In Sumba, to get married, the man has to "purchase" the women with livestock. But because of this expensive "purchase," a married woman becomes the property of her husband's family. As modernisation comes, these traditions are being challenged.
