SYNOPSIS

[EN] Wenhua Shi has made the radical choice to use single frame screen shots and examines his both strange and familiar home town in China, which he has been away from for nearly two decades. The word "Gutai" comes from post-war Japanese "avant-garde" artist group "Gu-Tai". The Kanji (a Japanese writing system that uses Chinese characters) "gu" means tool, measure, or a way of doing something, while "tai" means body. GUTAI is the result of intense observation.
