Without any soldier remaining to tell their story, landscapes of the first world war are the last living witnesses to the horrors they experienced. Taking the form of a pilgrimage, this film shows the history of these places where nature is slowly erasing the last traces. This documentary is a portrait of the landscapes and a tribute to the men who have returned to these places in search of their memories. In my turn, I decided to walk in the footsteps of the veterans, to see what they saw, what remains, so as not to forget. With a sensitive approach and without archive, this film borders on the essay. It's the confrontation between words that remain and images that fade. It's a film about memory and the passage of time. We sail through silence and forests, troubled and contemplative. We navigate through the minds of these lost pilgrims.
