SYNOPSIS

France lives under the dictatorship of Saving Laughter. Humor checks are daily, and those who refuse are severely punished. Anna and Louis, two melancholic lovers, have escaped from a reform camp through laughter. Hunted by police and jokes, they attempt to join a ship bound for South America.
