SYNOPSIS

France, 1953. A child’s words on a slate put so-called “educational” violence on trial. Camille Lebon, a young teacher, confronts her superior, Mr. Moreau, who defends the slap he gave his son. She lays out its consequences, demands an apology, and draws the line: children should not fear adults. THE SLATE shows violence through its effects and marks a clear boundary. A taut chamber piece of charged silences.
