SYNOPSIS

Jiani, a Chinese student in London, plans to visit Stonehenge with her boyfriend, Lin Zhe, but he goes missing, leaving her isolated and struggling with cultural and language barriers. During this time, she meets Yush, a man from Nepal, and they develop a subtle understanding that transcends language. Ultimately, Jiani chooses to continue her journey alone. This film is based on my personal experience as a Chinese student studying in London. It delves into the inner turmoil of contemporary international students, capturing their confusion about self-identity, their fear of intimate connections, and their sense of aimlessness in a foreign land. Through language and cultural barriers, it reveals the alienation and loneliness between people. In this unfamiliar place, students struggle to find a true sense of belonging or self-recognition, caught between nostalgia for their homeland and the stark isolation of reality. All of this resonates like a 'fricative' sound, as if breathing in a narrow space.
