SYNOPSIS

Imamuddin, a 16-year-old Afghan boy, arrives alone in Paris in February 2020, at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. He knows no one, does not speak the language, and finds himself left to his own devices, without resources, in this immense capital. He asks for help, but no one comes to his aid. While wandering the streets, he meets another migrant, also homeless, who reaches out to him. Together, they try to survive. But after several months, this friend eventually has to leave him. Alone once again, Imamuddin faces isolation, the painful memories of his past, and the shock of a culture completely different from his own. Weeks later, he runs into a volunteer from an association that had previously helped him. She offers him a place in a shelter in Tours. Overjoyed with this news, he accepts without hesitation. At his arrival in this house, he is very happy to have finally found a place to live. But he feels like a stranger among the other young people, who already know each other and share a common culture, very different from Imamuddin’s. His situation has improved, but his pain remains. His mental health deteriorates. The volunteers then arrange an appointment for him with a psychiatrist. Little by little, Imamuddin learns French, and some time later, he is told that he will finally be able to attend high school. It is a turning point for him. He starts the school year with a smile on his face, filled with hope. It is there that he will catch the gaze of a girl, and for the first time in a long while, he feels his heart stir.
