CLÍODHNA, a woman in her early twenties, lives in a remote, Irish-speaking coastal region in the west of Ireland. As a housing crisis forces her to consider emigration, she must reckon with the broader generational struggles of her community — declining language and culture, alongside a lack of opportunities for young people. She reflects on the world around her, the impact of her decision and the relationship she has with her threatened language, coming to terms with loss, feelings of alienation and a threatened future. As she grapples with her decision to leave, she becomes entwined with the unseen mystical world around her, revealing a deeper connection to the world around her and her place within it. The film explores the deep ties between language, identity and how it intertwines with the world around us. It asks: when a language dies, what part of us dies with it?
