SYNOPSIS

The Mowing Devil is a dreamlike sci-fi parable that weaves together two fateful paths: the leader of a UFO cult on the run, and a family of three seeking salvation amid an alien invasion. Their destinies intertwine in the shadow of the unknown in the dystopian IOTA City. Inspired by a 1600s folktale - which was considered the first recorded crop circle - I aim to create a genre-blurring story about quiet, everyday power and control. The idea of mowing is used as a psychological metaphor, symbolizing the subtle erasure of belief and how unseen forces slowly shape or suppress individuals. It is not a literal act within the story. Taking a Brechtian approach, the film unfolds as a modern allegory set in a distorted, uncanny reality, where only through disfiguration might we clearly see the real, cruel world.
