Due to a new World War, an astronaut’s return to Earth is postponed. While in space, he witnesses the start of nuclear attacks unfolding on the lands below. This is the beginning of the end. The entire surface of the Earth is annihilated in deadly mushroom clouds, all caused by humanity. He is now the sole surviving human alive. Now alone in this infinite void, he encounters a mysterious rock appearing before him. When he attempts to convey his pleas to stay with the rock, he is drawn into a dazzling vision - a 4.6 billion year flashback spanning the Earth’s entire history from birth after the Big Bang to its ultimate destruction by the selfishness of humans. Realizing the rock carries the consciousness of Earth itself, the astronaut apologizes for humanity’s shortcomings, and he clings to it with sorrow, and begs for forgiveness. At the precise moment when his compassion is acknowledged, a new Big Bang ignites, and a new planet, a new Earth and a fresh beginning of life, is born in the vastness of the Universe.
