SYNOPSIS

Going Straight follows the journey of DZ Pacuno, an ex-gay-turned-missionary who rabidly advocates the reversion of one’s sexual preference through spiritual conversion. DZ grew up engaging in homosexual relationships despite his family’s conservative Muslim and Christian upbringings. He eventually converted to Christianity and became the leader of Healing Grace Ministries, which reaches out to HIV and AIDS-stricken patients. The group’s mission of conversion involves bible studies and accountability sessions that delve into the sinful nature of homosexuality. Using biblical verses as a basis for reversion, the ministry leads its gay converts in finding their “true self.” However, DZ and his members admit that their same-sex attraction does not stop; they just learn to control it “through the grace of God.”
