SYNOPSIS

"It’s A Family Thing" explores the profound legacy and power of family connections. In her first short documentary, Lea Anderson crafts a poetic portrait of the 51st anniversary of an African American Family Reunion, which serves as the backdrop for an intimate journey through the lives of three long lost siblings—Max, Beryl, and Antoine—who had been separated since birth. As they reflect on their lifelong quest to reunite, the film reveals the importance of family bonds, the healing power of belonging, and the rich history that ties generations together.
