SYNOPSIS

Sebastian is a young man who lives with his mother and sister; he works as a rider for a well-known food delivery company to try to help out his family. His life consists of ten hours of work a day for a few euros per delivery. Victor is an executive for a well-known food delivery company; he is responsible for staff cuts and company budget. He monitors the efficiency of the riders, their speed and reliability of deliveries. He is also in charge of running the algorithm that decides which riders do not meet company standards and therefore should be fired. With the help of technology, everything can be done online and even a dismissal can be done with a simple message on the phone. Victor is under pressure and is trying to learn from his boss that a company is done with numbers and not people. Sebastian has just started his shift. Like every day he opens his cell phone-his real employer-and starts working. Toward evening his bike tire gets a flat; Sebastian knows full well that this is a problem: a negative score will be entered in the app used by riders. With a low score Sebastian knows full well that he will no longer be able to work at this rate, because he will be taken off several shifts. Sebastian quickly tries to fix his bike as the clock is ticking; a customer is waiting for his pizza. He finally manages to fix his bicycle and runs down the street to make up for lost time. Victor has just left work and is on his way home. After a curve, a rider speeds past him down the street. Victor tries to brake but it is too late; the accident is inevitable. Victor is panicked and does not know what to do. The only sound is a message on his cell phone from the delivery company's app: "Dear Sebastian. We regret to inform you that your account has been deactivated."
