SYNOPSIS

In Stitches, sisters Ava and Gillian navigate their strained relationship in the wake of Ava's recent episode of self-harm. At the beginning of the film, Ava finds her late mother's sewing supplies in Gillian's basement and becomes deeply engrossed in making a dress, a symbolic act of self-repair. However, her obsession with sewing leads to tension with Gillian, who has her own ideas about how Ava should be recovering, and controls Ava's access to sharp objects, the very instruments she needs to finish her project. When Gillian accidentally cuts her sister with a pair of scissors, she learns her desire for control may cause more harm than good.
