SYNOPSIS

Through tender storytelling, Who I Always Was tells the story of Pauline Menzcer, a surfer who became the best in the world, competing for over twenty years without a major sponsor. A queer surfer who, despite the blue ache of body pain and the cold edge of the surfing world, returned always to the water. It is an intimate portrait of a surfer finding community through queer connection.
