SYNOPSIS

100 000 years. This is the lifespan of radioactive waste on Earth. About tens of thousands of tonnes of waste are stored at the Orano factory, in la Hague, by the coast where I grew up. Neanderthal men and women actually lived just a few kilometers from there, 80 000 years ago. The erosion revealed their fossilised footprints in the soil.
