SYNOPSIS

In 2012, Russia’s huge Bovanenkovo natural gas field began production. Bovanenkovo is located in the Yamal Peninsula, a remote area of Siberia where, in winter, temperatures sink below -50°C. But gas production facilities obstruct the historical migration routes of the Nenets people, indigenous reindeer herders, who have to go through sprawling industrial zones to reach their summer pastures.
