SYNOPSIS
1814. Mathurin Thouars, a lieutenant in Napoleon's army, meets a young conscript suspected of faking epilepsy in order to get out of his military service. They are both Bretons but one has already seen battle and returns to the front, while the other has never been in the war and could escape it forever.
