SYNOPSIS

After Ovid. In Crete, a father threatens his wife Telethusa to kill all but sons. She bears him a daughter, Iphis, and conceals the child's gender from him. Believing Iphis to be a boy, beautiful Ianthe falls in love with her. The wedding day nears: the goddess Isis effects a gender change in Iphis.
