African films only represent 3% of the market on the African continent. Nearly all images shown on the screen are foreign. It can be said that a continent without images is simply a continent that is absent, ignored, and non-existent, not only to itself, but to the rest of the world as well. Protagonists for the "7e art africain" film festival address the following question: What role does film play in a society that lacks access to its own image?
