SYNOPSIS

In 1812, in Yorkshire, Caroline, a young woman from a modest background, falls madly in love with Moore, an industrialist who will stop at nothing to make money. On the verge of ruin because of a workers’ revolt, Moore plans to marry Shirley, a rich landowner and use her capital to rebuild.
