I did a masters in physics from the National Institute of Science Education and Research, India. I received a scholarship from the Department of Atomic Energy for the entire duration of my integrated masters. I used to run the film club in my institute. Initially when I found myself watching 3-4 films a day I thought I was just escaping. But then I found myself reading screenplays and thinking about films all the time. So I decided to switch to filmmaking. This was in 2017. With a background in theoretical research the move came across as erratic but I found my way. Since then I have assisted on 2 features and 2 documentaries which have been screened in various film festivals. My first project was Ekta Mittal's Birha which premiered in Busan and screened at IDFA. My next two features were with the Indian auteur Gurvinder Singh whose films have premiered in Cannes and Venice. I did a filmmaking workshop under the tutelage of Mohsen Makhmalbaf, a major figure of the Iranian new-wave. I have made two short films. Both of them were written and directed by me. For my recent short, "A heartbeat", I also did the edit and sound design.
