Leah Doz is a creator originally from Alberta. Her filmmaking has been broadcast in Canada, and garnered awards at Canadian and international film festivals. Her short film tips premiered at the Canadian Film Festival and won Best Comedy at the Caribbean Tales International Film Festival. It was featured in St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival’s Films Where You’re At series. Her short Bite and Smile won Best Short Short at the Toronto Independent Film Festival. Her upcoming short film Strangers will premiere in 2024 at the Montreal International Black Film Festival and Reelworld Film Festival, and was a semifinalist for the New York Indie Shorts Awards. The film was supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and Toronto Arts Council. Leah is an alumna of Reelworld Screen Institute’s Emerging 20 program and Canada's Black Screen Office Mentorship Program. She was a contributing writer in the CBC/Thunderbird development room for the series Strays. Her one-woman play Nobody’s Story was nominated for an Alberta Sterling Award. She is developing two feature films with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts. She was part of the inaugural Punctuate Theatre Multidisciplinary Writing Unit.
