BIOGRAPHIE

Joshua founded Blackgate together with Felix Keilen in 2019. We started watching horror movies as teenagers, ones that could only be found in the adult sections - and reshooting them with our friends. Today, we create short films, music videos, fashion videos and documentaries. We delve into modern and popular art, the hardcore punk scene, contemporary dance and body modification. Josh‘s father owns the oldest alternative club in the greater region, once equipped with genuine 35mm cinema. Felix has been collecting films like crazy since he was young, filling his entire apartment with them; nowadays, he collects tattoos. Through this obsession, we‘ve made connections in the alternative scene all over Europe, from Brussels to the French Alps. Our early short films might not have been as good as they are today, but at our first festival participation, we won a signed „Todesking“ box and had a beer with Jörg Buttgereit in the lobby, still a highlight to this day. „Porzellan“ (2021) screened at the Luxfilmfest and the Biberacher Filmfestspiele, while „Aquarium“ (2023) was featured at Créajeune and won the second Trier Filmfest.
