Alexandre Peralta

BIOGRAPHIE

Alexandre Peralta is a Student Academy Award-winning filmmaker. He grew up in São Paulo, Brazil, and started making films with his high school friends, using two VCR machines to edit them at home. In College, he studied Advertising and Marketing at ESPM, where he directed two short films, including a short stop-motion animation. After college, Alexandre moved to Los Angeles to pursue his M.F.A. in film at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. He has directed, edited, produced, written, and sound-designed several projects. Alexandre's thesis film won the Student Academy Awards Documentary Gold Medal and other awards. After living in Los Angeles for seven years, Alexandre moved back to Brazil to raise his kids close to his family in São Paulo. He produced, directed, and edited his first feature “Looking at the Stars”, a documentary about two ballerinas who were part of the only professional ballet company for blind dancers, which was distributed in several countries and released in theaters in Brazil, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Alexandre is currently working on both fiction and non-fiction projects, including a feature documentary about the world-renowned body music group, Barbatuques.
