Roel Swierenga is the founder of the Hansa Green Tour Foundation in The Netherlands, filmmaker and organizer of sustainability events & study trips in Northern Europe. He decided to have these events and study trips documented and filmed from the very beginning in 2011 for personal use and to share with all partners and participants. In 2021 he started to make a first series of short films, to gain experience and learn the art of mobile filmmaking with smartphones, smartphone lenses and drones. With the ambition to grow as a filmmaker and make impactful productions. The short film PUSHBACK shot on mobile phones was his first time entry as a filmmaker in the world of film festivals in 2021 and received multiple awards. Honoured, proud and strengthened in his believe that film is a great way to tell stories with impact, he decided to make a second short documentary film, now with Sony Alpha full frame camera's: '48.000 Names - Deadly Borders'. This short documentary film won many awards at film festivals around the world. Inspired by the success and steep learning curve with these 2 short documentaries Roel Swierenga now raised the bar for himself and the small crew to capture an amazing story deep in the mountains of southern Norway. A story close to his heart.
