BIOGRAPHIE

Juan Pablo Villalobos was born in 1988 in Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, Mexico. He graduated from CUEC-UNAM, where he took classes with masters of film criticism such as Jorge Ayala Blanco, Jonathan Rosenbaum and Adrian Martin. In 2020 his short film What else has your restless wandering been until now? won the Young Canvas Award at the Black Canvas Contemporary Film Festival 2020, and in 2023 he completed his latest short film, Xquipi. Also in 2023, he was selected at the Filmmakers Academy program of the Locarno International Film Festival.
