Olivia Valdez

BIOGRAPHIE

Olivia is a Hispanic & Native American stop motion animator and filmmaker from Florida, USA. After achieving her Bachelor’s at New York University, Olivia attended BAU, Barcelona School of Design for her Master’s in stop motion. While there, she and two others made their first short film, "The Weight of It" (2021), which has been selected by 15 festivals, winning Best Short Film in both the CinéMotion Film Festival in Niece, France and in TheWrap/Starz Telling Our Stories Contest. After working on a short film in the Peruvian Amazon, Olivia is making her solo directorial debut with The Test — a sci-fi short film that she wrote and developed. Olivia was selected as LAIKA's Writer / Director / Lead Animator in the Fellowship program in partnership with Project Involve of Film Independent for 2023. Olivia hopes that one day her name will be *the* reference for stop motion horror.
