Yuen Chi Him is a Hong Kong-based film director and photographer. He obtained a degree in cinematic art from the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong, and a master's degree in cultural studies from Lingnan University. Yuen's first short film "Not Now But When" received critical acclaim, winning the Fresh Wave award and best film in the open division at the Fresh Wave International Short Film Festival in 2011. His other notable works include "The Withering" (2020), "Imprisoned Light" (2019), and "In Blossom" (2017). Yuen's creative works often focus on social issues, particularly those that are unjust, and give voice to the disadvantaged. In addition to his film work, Yuen is also an accomplished writer and photographer. He has published the book of essays and photographs, "Against the Grain" (2017), as well as "Living in Sorrows" (2022), which he authored and designed the cover for.
