Kia ora, I'm Paloma. Sometimes PollyHill. I'm a multi-hyphenate artist based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa (Auckland, New Zealand). I like to spread myself between film, music and general story-telling/attention seeking. My thematic interests have always gravitated towards the female experience, particularly the queer and diasporic experience, as those are the communities I most identify with. I love to examine the the beauty in the grotesque or dysfunctional. As of 2023, I'm currently participating in the pop-up film intensive A Wave in The Ocean - mentored by Dame Jane Campion and Philippa Campbell. My debut feature film Big Girls Don’t Cry is slated for production in 2024. In 2022 I was commissioned by New Zealand's leading performing arts school Toi Whakaari to write and direct a work on their graduating acting students (in post-prod). And my NZFC short film Memory Foam premiered at the 2019 NZ International Film Festival and Show Me Shorts Film Festival, where she was nominated for Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor (Alison Bruce) As a musician, I produce and perform music and score theatre/dance/film.
