Amanda Dow

BIOGRAPHIE

Australian, LA-based Director, Writer, Producer Amanda Dow was born in Perth, Western Australia. She began her career in acting and graduated from The Australian Film and Television Academy in 1999. After years of landing the occasional role, she made the switch to writing and directing acknowledging the lack of strong female influence behind the camera. In 2011 she wrote and directed her first short film Vacillate, in 2012 she wrote and directed another short film The Gift. This is where her love really ignited to write and direct story. The following years consisted of her writing seven feature length films, of which four have been optioned. In 2014 Amanda directed her debut feature film Chasing Aliens which stirred much interest at the Cannes film market. From there she went on to associate producer on Drive Hard starring John Cusack and Thomas Jane, then location managing on The Reckoning, starring Luke Hemsworth. In November 2017 she produced a documentary in Cambodia I am Beautiful, believing that understanding all facets of the industry will make her a better director. In 2020 she directed another short, One Hit Wonder, where she went on to win best director in two film festivals and best international film. She recently directed a music video Ticking Clocks for rising star Azusena and is currently working on several projects including an Australian drama feature By the Fall and a Christmas comedy Unwrapped, which she co-wrote with Heywood and is due to direct by end of 2023.
