Yichien Lee is a Taiwanese filmmaker and animator whose work primarily deals with female sexuality and Taiwanese national identity. Her portfolio ranges from genre fiction, personal documentary, character animation, to experimental analog. Her autobiographical documentary About a Name is a poetic exploration of Taiwanese political dynamics and identity during the COVID pandemic. It was showcased in the 2020 It's All True Emerson College's Documentary Film Festival. Yichien's motion design has been featured in Kacalisiyan: Singers from the Mountainsides (2020), a musical documentary broadcasted nationwide on Public Television Service (TW). Yichien has a Bachelor's art degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures from National Chung Hsing University in Taichung, Taiwan. Her literary sensibility cultivated her fascination with the gothic genre and uncanny female experiences. She has an MFA in Film and Media Art from Emerson College, MA.
