Sophia Bierend

BIOGRAPHIE

Sophia Bierend, born in Göttingen, has been studying screenwriting and dramaturgy at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf since 2014. From the very beginning she has also dedicated herself to directing fictional films. For the Netflix series "Unorthodox" and the feature film "I Am Your Man" she gained further international experience as an assistant director and continued to work as personal assistant of the renowned director Maria Schrader, who directed both projects. In 2019, she won for the screenplay "Fat Swims“ the Degeto Impulse Award for emerging filmmakers. The project "The Taster" received a grant as part of the international Talent Lab of the "War On Screen Film Festival" in Châlons-en-Champagne, France.
