Ahmed Akbar is a Bahraini filmmaker and editor who has won several local and international awards. Ahmed grew up in an environment that appreciated films but had many different views about them, which strengthened his acceptance and desire to explore different cultures and ideas through films. Ahmed’s style has been influenced by many international directors, most notably Wong Kar-Wai, Abbas Kiarostami, Krzysztof Kieslowski and Michael Haneke. Akbar directed three short films (Calendar 2018), (Window 2019), which received a filmmaking grant from the Made with Passion Festival, and (Salam 2021), which was awarded a filmmaking grant by the French Embassy in Bahrain. He also edited several Bahraini short films.
