BIOGRAPHIE

Iiris Saaren-Seppälä is a Finnish film director, producer and screenwriter, focusing on comedy. Has written, directed and co-produced 20 short fictions (including 3 adds) and worked in various positions for over 50 films since 1989. Saaren-Seppälä’s films have been screened internationally at film festivals (e.g. Fifa International Festival of Films on Art in Montreal, Rome Independent Film Festival, Slamdance in L.A., Love and Anarchy in Helsinki) and in museums. Master of Arts by education, graduated from Sheffield Hallam University, UK. Saaren-Seppälä’s work is strongly influenced by surrealistic art and has elements of magical realism. In narration she involves features such as comedy of manners, romantic comedy and slapstick. Also been Art Director, and widely responsible for the launch of the internationally awarded Mestari™ Log Carrier and Mestari™ Flame Grill since 2008. She is a member of SELO ry Association of Finnish Film Directors, Finnish Playwrights and Screenwiters Guild and Finnish Animation Guild. Works currently in Helsinki, Finland.
