BIOGRAPHIE

Born 1964 in East Berlin, Giorgis Fotopoulos grew up in Athens. He studied Visual Communications at the Hochschule der Künste and Philosophy at the Freie Universität in West Berlin. Since 1985 he has produced, written and directed over a dozen short films. Since 1986 he has published various essays and reviews on Greek films. Since 1987 he has worked as an assistant director and production manager on various feature-length films. By 1997 Giorgis Fotopoulos began holding teaching positions and lectures on film and cinema in Greece at the Humboldt Universität, the Freie Universität and the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin. He has worked also as a dramaturge and director for various off-theatre productions. Numerous translations of Greek poetry into German. Documentaries for Arte and other TV channels.
