Luke Benward is an American actor, screenwriter, producer and director. Luke is the son of a musician and actress, and was born in Nashville, Tennessee. Growing up with a strong artistic influence, his heart was set on creating and thus began his lengthy career in the entertainment industry. At age 5, he was cast in his first movie “We Were Soldiers,” starring alongside industry giant Mel Gibson which landed him his first agent and future manager, Mitchell Gossett. After getting a taste of life in film, he was hooked. Luke’s childhood was successful as he accumulated a pronounced body of work starring in the New Line Cinema film, “How to Eat Fried Worms” at age 12, to films such as the Netflix Film “Dumplin’” with Jennifer Aniston and “Life of the Party” with Melissa McCarthy, as well as a variety of different television credits and many film credits ranging from studio films to experimental indies. He worked steadily throughout his childhood, soaking in every bit of knowledge he could from observing the entire process of how entertainment is made, and ultimately moved to Los Angeles at age 17 to pursue a career in the art of film-making. Although Luke is traditionally known for his work in front of the camera, he strives to be known for his work behind the camera as well. With the recent addition of producing credits to his resume and a lengthy screenwriting portfolio he is currently shopping around, he makes his directorial debut with “Boys,” a passion project for Benward. He strives to tell stories all across the spectrum that impact and resonate with his own personal struggles and experiences growing up, hoping that his audience will connect and reflect off what is meaningful in their own lives. His talent, passion, creativity and work ethic are just some reasons why this is only his first step of many as a story teller in all facets of the title.
