I was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan in 1986. Since I was little, my father was often not at home because of his work in the hospital, but even then he was managed to bring a VHS home every weekend and watched the movies with all the family members together on the sofa in the living room. During the movies, I would laugh when my parents burst out laughing. I would get down when they were in the silence because I could feel the depression from the serious plots. Then, I would get up from the sofa, nervously asking for the reason even though I couldn’t figure out why. I was too young to be sophisticated enough to express myself then. but I was deeply influenced by my parents’ views and emotions about the movies. Watching movies with my dear family is the sustenance which I drew from, and makes my family members closer to each other. Watching movies together thus becomes my favorite and precious family reunion time. The most memorable movie time is watching horror movies. I still remember the day my father showed us an American Horror Film “The Exorcist”. The odd human body pose and demon possession rooted in my mind. I can’t get rid of them. Even though the film was over, the images were still vivid in my head. The power of horror movies totally convinced me. Horror movies are not just scarring, bloody or horrible. They can make people collapse and thus reveal their real reaction, which indicates your instinctive behavior while you’re facing dangers. It is the true and original feelings that hard to feel in real society makes me indulge myself in horror movies. Since then, I fell in love with horror movies. When I was a junior high student, I started borrowing VHS or VCD home every weekend, and most of them were horror films such as Psycho, Ringu, Zombies, Witches, Psyche, Monsters… and so on. I would turn off the light and watch them at the dark night. All these creepy scenes would play repeatedly in my head, one after one. These scenes and the emotions satisfied the desire from my soul and were the must-have food for my mind. After graduation from university, I got a job in a hospital. I worked as a health care practitioner there, so it was common to see many traumas, wounds, and scalds. Therefore, I was at ease instead of scaring blood. Recently, movie industry starts to flourish after several horror movies released worldwide. Inspired by the trend, horror movies with Taiwan local culture and customs started. More and more Taiwanese horror films with local culture also takes the advantage of it, which spirits me up, so I cannot help but join this trend.I wrote down the plots, shot the film with my camera, set the backgrounds and start my film-maker life. In 2020, I made my second short horror film which based on the skill I learned from tons of movies. I try to create a meticulous and meaningful short horror film with Taiwanese traditional customs and religion. A perfect horror movie is not only to scare people; it should entertain everyone at the same time. The horror in the entertainment will teach people a lesson or even alarm them , which will be deeply imprint on our mind.
