BIOGRAPHIE

Vivek is an independent filmmaker and cinematographer from India. He is currently based in San Francisco, California. Before turning indie maker, he shot several documentaries, corporate films and short films, as well as apprenticed under leading cinematographers in the Mumbai film industry briefly. Vivek is a software professional by day and straddles two very different worlds in his life. Vivek's work focus on themes such as urban angst, alienation, and dislocation. His films are generally of a non-narrative and exploratory character, following of an idea or abstraction through various motifs found in the urban life and milieu he is most familiar with. He is deeply concerned with the question of form and seeks to arrive at each film's unique form through a combination of fluid cinematography, improvised mise-en-scene, montage and sound design. He directs, shoots, edits, and scores his films all by himself—a veritable one-man crew. He believes this is a crucial factor to achieve the kind of integral, synergistic quality he aspires to in his work.
