BIOGRAPHIE

Lorna Nickson Brown is a filmmaker from Birmingham, UK. She has been selected by CREATIVE ENGLAND as one of ten women in the creative industries for the inaugural INDUSTRY EQUALS: WOMEN IN SCREEN 2019-2020, a mentorship initiative for women leaders at the forefront of storytelling in film and television. She originally trained as an actress under Vladimir Mirodan and Annie Tyson at Drama Centre London, winning a Laurence Olivier Bursary Award in her final year. As an actor working across theatre, television and film she has appeared in THE FEED (Amazon Studios) THE BOOKSHOP (Studio POW) and POIROT (ITV). As a producer, Lorna lead produced experimental dance short, FIGURE, winner of Best Drama at Hackney Short Film Festival and Best Dance Short at New Renaissance Film Festival. Figure screened at over 20 festivals internationally, including the BAFTA recognised Aesthetica Film Festival. In 2018, Lorna was an Associate Artist at Birmingham Repertory Theatre, where she wrote and performed
her solo show, BUTTERFLIES, directed by Susan Lynch. In 2019, the play was adapted for radio for BBC Sounds as part of BBC Arts: New Creatives. Lorna also co-writes for screen with her mother, Louise Brown. She is a 2019 BAFTA x BFI Network Crew member. NED & ME is Lorna’s directorial debut.
