Helena Guerra

BIOGRAPHIE

Helena Guerra is a Brazilian filmmaker and producer (FAAP, 2008), founder and co-director of Marieta, cultural centre set in Downtown São Paulo dedicated to the studies and dissemination of art and contemporary issues. In 2019 Helena was selected for the artistic residency "Sonido del Verano" in Barcelona, which resulted in the experimental short film "for the time we will be human" under the guidance of director Lucrecia Martel. In 2017 her script “On the colour of a cloudless sky” was awarded and produced by a government grant for the arts. Since 2016 Helena is head curator of the weekly film-club “Cineclube Marieta”, that exhibits films from artist with few, or no circulation in Brazil. Helena was curator and executive producer of the video section for the international art project “Ponte” in 2015, which gathered musicians and videomakers from different countries. During the last couple of years, she has specialized in the production of independent music videos, collecting several awards in national competitions. She is author of videos for the exhibitions “Atualidades Arquitetônicas / Paulo Mendes da Rocha” (Centre Pompidou, Paris, 2011), “Arquitetura brasileira: viver na floresta” (Instituto Tomie Ohtake, São Paulo, 2011) and Brazil Contemporary (NAi, Rotterdam, 2009).
