Farzad Samsami (b. 1980 in Tehran) has directed and produced numerous short films, and music videos. His first short film, Foad (2014) was shown at several national and international festivals, among them Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival (international competition) and the Palm Springs Shortsfest. At Palm Springs, Foad received the HP Bridging The Borders Award, Best International Short presented by Cinema Without Borders. In 2017/18, Samsami received production grants for two new short films, MY FATHER (2018) and DOAH (2020). DOAH had its world premiere at the Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival 2020, in the African perspectives section. Doha has since its premiere been shown at countless international festivals and has won awards such as. The Jury Prize at Les 12 Courts De Minuit Film Festival 2021, Prix Du Public, Festival Amnesty International Au Cinéma pour les Droits Humains 2021. Prix Des Lysèence, Cinema For Change 2021. His latest short film Chachimo is the first film ever made in Norway with Norwegian/Roma in the lead roles and with Romanes as the main language. The Norwegian/Roma community in Norway is a national minority with only approx. 800 people in total. Chachimo is made in collaboration with Romano Kher, which is a Roma culture and resource center in Oslo / Norway.
