Anna Gyimesi was born in 1985 in Budapest. After receiving her degree in medicine in 2011, she turned to filmmaking. She graduated from the film directing programme of the University of Theatre and Film Arts in 2019. Currently, she is studying documentary film directing in the Docnomads Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Course. Her student project FORTY YEARS was selected for several festivals in Hungary and abroad, for instance Alter-Native Film Festival, Targu Mures, Romania. Her absurdist short DYING LICENSE had its premiere in 2019, and was followed by her graduation film, titled THE END, and HAPPY, which was supported by the Hungarian National Media Patronage. AFFRICATE received development support from the Hungarian film advocacy organisation FilmJus.
