BIOGRAPHIE

Pieter Coudyzer (° 1978, Belgium) studied animation at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent (Belgium). In 2003 he graduated with the animated short Moodswing. The film was selected for more than 100 festivals and won the Grand Prize at Anima in 2004 and the Franscuscus Pycke Prize of the Academy in Ghent. Since then he made several short films including Marked (2007), The Wake (2011), Tree (2014), My Heart Is Not Here (2015), I Shall Not Move (2016), Beast! (2016), Urge (2017), and Our Spot (2017). His films have won several awards including the Grand Prix and the Sabam Award at Anima Int. Animation Festival for Moodswing and The Wake, the award for Best Original Music at the Annecy Int. Animation Festival and the Outstanding Selection Award at Kaohsiung Film Festival for Beast!, and he won the Danny Elfman Project at LA Film Festival with Urge. In 2015 his first graphic novel Woekeraar was published and translated in French (L'arborescent) and English (Outburst). The Passerby is his most recent short film.
