Jasmijn Schrofer is an independent film maker based in the Netherlands. Her visually poetic style and knack for uncovering unique and topical stories has garnered her a reputation and several awards. Some of her works include the exploration of a mystical sect in the film Tarikat, a journey of a group of students using recreational drugs in After and a daring look at a group practicing euthanasia in Practical Matters. Her latest work, The Death of Darkness, examines a nomadic community in Northern Kenya that experiences electricity for the first time and the impact of that on their lives. Other work in process includes “Waxing is not for Pussies” revealing stories during the waxing of the female genitalia. Jasmijn graduated from the Dutch Film Academy in 2016. Her Chinese, American and Dutch descent, give her a unique lens as a storyteller. The passion behind all of her work is inclusion and understanding.
